Mr. Blevins Art blog
This blog was used for "At Home" learning during Covid. We still refer to this page when a student is gone for an extended absence so they can continue to work from home and stay caught up in class.
This page will be updated each week to give you Art Projects and Activities to complete while we are out. I have also added some links under the menu tab to keep you working on your Portfolios in your free time. Please share what you have done so that we can keep in contact and I can see your progress. As always, if you need anything, reach out at [email protected].
See you soon

This is the final week of school for the year. With summer vacation here I think about travel and exploring places that are new to me. I have been lucky enough to travel to Spain, Italy and France. This week you will share one of the experiences that I had by taking a Virtual Vacation to Florence, Italy. This link will take you through several of the most popular stops in the city. When finished exploring Florence, click on the second link and try another virtual tour. Email me and let me know what you found most interesting. It's been a strange semester but I hope you enjoyed my class. Have a great summer!
If you have Art still in my classroom, I will save it and send you a message when you can pick that up. Currently they have the art rooms under construction as they are adding the new portion of the building outside of our rooms.

Good Morning
This week we will take things in a different direction and see where your creative side takes you. You have been working from tutorials that walk you through a step by step process. We will now choose a Prompt and create a drawing from your imagination. Follow the link below and scroll down until you see the PROMPTS. Choose one. Create something Awesome! Email the results to me. Blevins We can't do much about being stuck at home right now. We can dream about our favorite ways to "cruise around" and enjoy going places. This week we will focus on your favorite mode of transportation. If you could go anywhere right now, what would you use to get there? Maybe your Dream Car, a Boat, a Motorcycle, a Horse or even an airplane. This is my "Dream Car" and I would love to be out cruising around in this today. 1969 Chevelle SS!
Choose ONE of the Tutorials Below and draw your favorite mode of transportation! Feel free to find your own. Want extra credit? Draw the setting around your mode of transportation! Email your drawings by Friday! Have a great week. Blevins Building on PERSPECTIVE....
This week we will build upon the perspective drawings you have completed over the past two weeks. Your assignment will be to choose ONE of the Optical Illusion Tutorials provided, watch the video and follow along to create your optical illusion. Some of these will require ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE and some will require you to use TWO POINT PERSPECTIVE. TASK: -Create an Optical Illusion Drawing using Perspective. -Use Materials you have at home (Pencils, Pens, Markers and any Paper) -Use color if you would like and have it available -Have Fun with this and add to it so that you can make it your own. -Email images to me and I will update the Grade book This week we are going to work on Two Point Perspective Drawings. In Two Point Perspective you will still begin with a horizon line and add Two Vanishing points. This works great if you are looking directly at a corner of a building so that you can see two sides. STEPS: -Watch the video and practice along with the video to create the Modern House. -Create your own Street Scene or use a reference image to draw a street scene from a real location. -Add Color is you would like -Send your finished images to me via Email or add to your Blog Page. This week I would like you to focus on simple One Point Perspective.
For this project you can use: -Pencils/Pens/Markers -Paper of any type -Ruler or anything you can use as a straight edge Follow along on the first video and practice your first One Point Perspective so that it looks just like the one being taught in the video. Make sure to use: -Horizon Line -Vanishing Point Listen for these and understand what they are. These will be important. Once you have finished the first Practice along with the video, try another of your own by drawing a room in your home. You can use any room, hallway or garage. Send me your practice and your own version. Feel free to use color if desired. I have linked a couple more videos for reference that may help. Have fun! This week I would like for you to work on two main things:
-Review Drawing and Shading Skills -Work on development of your Creative Thinking Supplies needed: Any Paper, sketchbook or even a piece of cardboard to draw on Drawing tool (Pencil, pen, markers) PROMPT: Draw your own creature to represent the current virus that is keeping us out of school. What would this virus look like? Be creative. Use color if desired. Send me your examples on your blog (if you have one), through email or to the PLHS Art Twitter @MonarchsArt Here are some examples and a link to Creature Box to get more ideas. Hey There! Hope you guys are staying safe and healthy. Although we aren't in the traditional classroom, we will still work to keep your skills sharp and hopefully give you the creative outlet you need during these days at home. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions.
